Curt Anderson has quietly become one of the most-traveled musicians in the world, touring nearly sixty countries across six continents. And now, he’s bringing his passion for travel to television by surprising deserving people with extraordinary travel adventures around the world.
The small-town boy from Michigan has arrived at a unique place in entertainment, creating a niche in international concert touring, that’s led to the creation of a fresh, groundbreaking take on the travel tv genre. Anderson calls the journey which began more than a decade ago “a slow progression,” now taking him from Australia to Hong Kong, from Thailand to Qatar, and countless communities in between.
“Growing up in a family of travelers, international travel has been a part of the fabric of my life for as long as I can remember. In music, Australia was the start of something back in 2008 with my first international tour. Those relationships sustained me in the early years of touring. When my first single released to radio in 2015, I received messages from stations all over the world telling me they were playing my song and how well their listeners were responding to it. So, I made it my goal to visit as many of those radio stations as I could—I wanted to build relationships and show the staff and listeners that I value and appreciate them.”
Building A Tool Chest
Anderson views his songs and tv show as similar tools in his mission of making a positive impact on the world around him.
Since his first recording in 2002—a self-made CD he recorded with equipment borrowed from the music department at his high school— Anderson has released two full length albums and two EPs. His singles “Keep it Beating,” “Every Moment,” “Love Like You Love,” and “Keep Me Falling” all received significant airplay on global radio, with numerous appearances on Top 5 and Top 10 airplay charts, and year-end Top 100 charts every year since 2015.
Both singles are clearly personal—and definitely aspirational. The inspiration for “Love Like You Love,” and its accompanying video filmed in Sydney, Australia, came via an embarrassing moment experienced by Anderson while shopping with his wife Brittney. Frustrated by his inattentiveness, she asked: “Are you going to participate in this day with me or just have your face in the phone?” Anderson embraced the “teachable moment” and purposed to be intentional about focusing on others. “I don’t want to live with blinders on,” he says. “I want to be someone who looks around and says: How can I show the people around me that I value them? How do I show them I love them? One of the most obvious ways is to give them my attention and be present in each moment.”
“Keep Me Falling,” meanwhile, encompasses growing up in a small town with a big dream, and then seeing those dreams all over again through the eyes of his young sons.
“My music and tv show really are tools with the same purpose. I want to live brilliantly whether I’m home with my family or travelling the world. I want to invest myself in what’s happening around me, and I want to help others do the same.”
True North
Although his journey as an entertainer has taken him to unexpected places, Anderson’s compass has always been determined by his desire to love people.
“I want people to know me for the way I love others. I’m far from perfect, yeah, but I strive to show kindness and love to my family, friends, and the people I come in contact with each day. No matter our backgrounds, where we each come from, what we believe…we have more in common than we may think. And the world is a better place when we seek to not just understand and accept eachother, but to love eachother no matter what.”
New Beginnings
When you discover the world, you discover yourself. One adventure at a time.
Anderson believes travel, done right, can be life-changing. He’s experienced it over and over throughout his life. Now he wants to share those experiences with others through a groundbreaking travel tv series called, The Adventure: Lifechanging Travel. Each episode, he’ll surprise a deserving person(s) who have been nominated by friends/family, where they’ll join him on the adventure of a lifetime into the far corners of the world.
“From a young age, I was given the incredible gift of travel…getting to experience life around the world. The Adventure, for me, is getting to share that gift with others, including people who might otherwise never have the opportunity to travel.”
Connection
Balancing an international career with life as a husband to Brittney and father to sons Liam and Nolan, Anderson strives to be present and in-touch, even when he’s on another continent.
FaceTime keeps the Anderson family fully connected while dad’s away, including story time before bed and other important routines. “Everything we can be involved in, we do,” he says, even when they’re thousands of miles apart. Sometimes his kids “attend” his concerts, calling in while he is at the piano. He answers and keeps playing. “They can be a part of the concert while they’re at home; they’ve joined me for walks around Paris, camel treks around Egyptian Pyramids, floating around the waters of Ha Long Bay, Vietnam, and watching zebra scatter in the Maasai Mara of Kenya.” Extra special are the times when they are able to travel together as a family, which Anderson hopes they’ll be able to do even more in the years to come.
Without Borders
In traveling the world, Curt Anderson has found his home. “My family and I have been given an opportunity that isn’t limited by geographic borders. So we’ll keep following it, creating positive things in the world to invest into others, while continuing to invest into our own family everyday.”
